Launching #occupytrans*phobia
In just a few short days, #occupytrans*phobia will be up and running! We are offering three colors, cherry red, Irish green, and indigo blue, and expanding to more color styles soon. The cherry red is offered in the v-neck style, and the green and blue are standard crew necks. All profits will go toward creating more shirts, as well as to help pay for trans*-related health expenses of the founders. We will also be donating some of the profits to Fan Free Clinic’s Transgender Clinic in Richmond. We hope that by wearing these shirts, we will begin the process of educating people outside the trans* community about issues that this community faces in everyday life
About me
They're our lives; let's control them.In today’s society trans* people are rarely in control of their own bodies. Medical and psychological professionals often require validation of trans* identities before medical transition. And, even when trans* people have that validation, many insurance companies do not cover hormones and surgeries that are necessary for many trans* individuals, and these procedures are viewed as elective. The trans* community is also constantly discriminated against regarding bathrooms, name changes, changing their legal sex, and numerous other aspects of their lives. #occupytrans*phobia aims to bring awareness that trans* people have the right to their own bodies, and their identities should not have to be constantly validated. Red tape should be eliminated, to promote the well-being of the trans* community. We hope that by wearing these shirts, we will begin the process of educating people outside the trans* community.
